Getting a sweet hookup on tires - but which ones...?
Alright, my brother is getting a job at a tire distributor warehouse. They have EVERY tire made, so my choices are limitless. Also, I will get an awesome deal on whatever tires I pick...so...the big question (that I know has been asked at least 12,391 times) would be, which tires do I go with? I have "narrowed" it down to the following:
BFG AT
Mickey Thompson ATZ
Procomp Extreme AT
Nitto Terragrappler
Cooper Zeon
Bridgestone Revo
and MAYBE Goodyear Duratracs.
I do about 90% road driving and 10% off-road. My truck is an 07 QC w/ Hemi, not lifted, stock 20's. I have had the BFG's before and really liked them. I have read great things about the Revos, Nittos, and Zeons. I had some Mickey Thompson MTZ's on my Jeep and they took an unbelievable amount of weight to balance, so I am a bit afraid of the Mickey's. I have NEVER had good luck with Goodyear's, but those Duratracs are damn good looking and seem to have a perfect tread pattern for what I want (maybe a bit aggressive).
So...what do you guys think? Any opinions/experiences would be helpful. Thanks guys.

I have used BFG and Procomp... Loved them both... I would also look at Hankook Dynapro MT.... With the kind of driving you do go with the BFG's.. You have had a good experience with them before so why change
Procomp extreme at's suck in my opinion, i hate that they're directional.. And we have them on our 08 1500 hemi, and they ride rough, and are very loud... I think i'd go with the mickey thompson atz's or cooper zeons.. Had the nitto's on my truck, Dry rotted after 40 thousand, but i also know many people who love them.
Edit: Nittos dry rotted after 30 thousand.

Pro Comp = cheap made in china crap. I got hunting buddies who bought into these tires a few years ago when a new tire shop opened in town pushing them with VERY aggressive prices. NOT ONE of those guys would buy another Pro Comp. Shop is already out of business.
Nitto = very solid tires for the $. Great tire for a mostly road truck with some light trail usage. Poor in deep mud, GREAT everywhere else. I've got a set on my Grand Cherokee daily driver. Never seen one with a dry rot issue.
BFG = Over-hyped, Over-priced, very average tires. I've had these tires. Uneven wear and belt separation issues.
Goodyear = Owned two sets, uneven wear, cupping issues on both. Another over-rated, over-priced tire. The skinny on the Duratracs is that they are a great tire on a < 4000 lb. truck or suv, but don't do well on heavier vehicles.
Cooper Zeon = similar to the Terra Grapp performance wise, although a little louder and not quite as good on wet pavement. Good/solid tire but I'd take the Nittos over it.
Bridgestone = never owned a set and don't personally know anyone with them, but they have a solid reputation and consistently get good reviews.
Mickey Thompson ATZ = one of the best A/Ts on the market. A slightly noisier/slightly more aggressive tire than the Nitto. Long wear is a strong suit, I personally know a guy who has a set with 80k miles on them and they may make 100k!
As far as balancing goes, I'm actually shocked your MTZs took a lot of weight. We put a set on my "little brother's" Cheby Z71 three years ago. He's got about 35k on them now and two tires only took .25oz to balance. Most any of the four took was .75oz.

Personally, if I could get a "deal" on tires, I'd be looking at Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepeks. High price, but great performance and long life.

I think Hammer summed it up, but i agree if you can get tires that are usually out of reach, then go for it....im thinking either, the mick's, nittos, or the revos....yes i know a member recently had an issue with one tire, but i never had any with 2 sets which both lasted over 60K and did see some off-road.
