I'm pretty good at sighting a scam from a mile away.
Incase any of you are uncertain, just copy the header title without the location and do a search on Google or whatever. If you find ANY other listings in populated areas that are the same, it's a scam.
Also, any seller that offers to ship a car for free is 99% a scam. I sold a car to a guy in Arkansas and the shiping cost from NY was $1100, so it's not by any means cheap and to sell a vehicle for a few thousand and to offer to cover shipping is a dead give away. It's scary that a few of you either weren't sure or actually didn't know.
Another dead giveaway is the unusual low mileage coupled with the unusual low price, wheels combo and the fact that he responded ASAP to your emails. Well, ofcourse he would, he sits at his computer all day waiting for dummies to contact him so he can take their money.
I think it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with how scammers work and operate so you can be more conciencious about sellers online. Un-dumb yourself about scams!!! Not trying to pick on anyone, just trying to edjumicate you...lol
One sure way to find out if it's truley a scam is this:
Hi there, I am interested in taking a look at your vehicle you have listed in criagslist. I will be in your area the day after tomorow and was wondering if I can come check it out. I have cash in hand. I promise you either won't get a response back or they will try and push the sale quicker saying it may be sold by then or the vehicle is in a secured storage facility...yada..yada.
For giggles, why don't the guys that have already contacted him send him another email stating just that....that you are in the area and would like to check it out and possibly test drive it. I bet you wont get a response back!
