8 hour tow ... anything to know ??
I'm a big fan of weight distribution hitches... when used properly they can make 6k# feel like 3k#... I don't know if you can rent them, but buying a bargain unit is around $150 or so... $300 for a really good one.. the purpose is to 'push' the weight to where your front axle helps, and it will visibly level the truck out.. it's easier on your rear leaves and shocks, and a TON easier on your brakes as all that weight isn't relying on only two rotors, but all four equally (when set up optimum).. the biggest help though, in my opinion is the steering assistance- again, the weight being shared on the front axle keeps your front tires planted firmly on the terra..
I'll never tow over 2500lbs w/o one again.. they are that much help.. but don't put too much weight on the front, or you'll eat the tread off your front tires in a matter of hours..
as far as being concerned about your trucks ability to tow for this trip, don't sweat it bro- it's a truck designed for that, and it's a dodge... other than economy, this is where these trucks shine..
good advice in this thread by the way..
