Before I got my LED tails I had mine smoked. I believe I did 4 or 5 coats of niteshades. I'm in Arizona, so the fuzz never gave me any problems with them. While they were dark, I could see them on during the day from roughly 300 ft or so. Cali might be a little more strict. What part of cali are you?

I haven't smoked my headlights yet, however I do see some cars and trucks with them on around here so it doesn't look like cops give them too many problems. Do you have HID's? As long as you can see your turn signals amd lights very clearly, I doubt you'll be given a hard time. Just make sure to do 3 coats maximum if you are going the niteshades route.

Also, heres a pic of how dark mine were:

just check your local laws and abide by them...I had 4 coats on mine and they were visible by like 500 ft, then did another coat to make them visible by over 300. Law is 200 here, so technically Im legal.

dont nightshade your heads....crack em open and paint them

Night Shades??? I just googled it. Interesting. Just spray then clear coat? I'll need a 2nd set of tails, so I can keep one set stock.

Why not night shade the head lights? There is a white truck on here in that lifted 2WD thread that had tinted headlights, and it looked damn good. I like the mirrored look of the heads...but tinted would be stellar.

Not to mention it might give my chrome trim a black powder coat look...
