Default Max load of wheels and towing

All 17" wheels at discountiresdirect and tirerack have max load of 2200-2500lb so my question is this possible to tow something with such wheels? It seems to me that such max load is not enough to tow something? Am I wrong? Should I pay an attention to max load of wheels if I want to tow travel trailer (4000-7000lb)?

No, you have to use the truck. Sorry, couldn't resist. I suspect that's lateral load. As long as you stay within the limits of the truck, you should be fine with pretty much any wheel.

If I can use any wheel then it's kinda strange that such thing as max load per wheel exists. 17" 10ply tire has max load around 3000-3200lb but if max load of the wheel is only 2500lb then why to bother and buy more expensive 10ply tire? Can you explain this to me? I've found only one 17" wheel that has max load of 3000lb - Mickey Thompson Classic.

I have the Mickey Classic IIs, long considered among the better strength to weight wheels on the market.

You would think a steel wheel would be stronger, but I've looked at steel wheelsfor pickups that don't even rate to 2000#.

Yea, they are 3000# rated. It looks like not many thought about max load of their wheels, only about their look
