Default debadging, almost done

decided to pull the badges on my 07 qc (black) this weekend. Got all the badges on the doors/fender removed and wasn't too bad. Used the fishing line trick to saw them off, then ended up using one of the letters from the badge as a scraper to scrape the glue/adhesive off. Sounds like a dumb idea, but worked pretty good, other than a few very slight surface scratches that will rub out if i ever getting around to buying a buffer. Had a question though, i didn't do the tail gate yet, the reason is i think it has been painted before. In the right lighting the paint looks a bit different and i can see some buffer marks, so i'm pretty sure it's been repainted before i bought the truck. Want to pull the badges on it, but worried what might happen if it was a crappy paint job. Don't really want to risk the paint coming off with the badges. What u guys think, leave it or go ahead and try it?

whats the worst thing that could happen? If it looks a bit shotty...get some 3m trim tape and reapply the trim pieces on. If u really want the debadged look then the risk might be worth the reward!

that's the only pic i can get up for now from my phone. Must have to set my camera's on the absolute smallest pixel setting to post pics on this forum, just 2 pics completely fills up my box for sending pics, and says i have exceeded my quota

yea the only problem is that some shops use an epoxy for reapplying badges instead of trim adhesive tape. Theres no getting them off if they used epoxy.

You will be able to tell once trying to get them off. It will be a hard yellow substance rather than the sticky stuff you got off with the other ones. And shotty paint job or not, a little tape should NOT take the paint off

Open an account @ photobucket.com and it will be easier to post pics using a pic url!!

Well i took a good look at the tailgate badges, the 4x4 emblem is definitely stuck on there with normal black adhesive and should come off easy. The big horn edition emblem on the lower left corner of the tailgate is another story, looks like it might be glued on. Peeled a corner of one of the letters back and didn't see the normal adhesive, anybody know how they apply the big horn letters? Also looks like it was sprayed over with clearcoat, i can see a little bit of clearcoat bubbled around a few of the letters, so i think i'm definitely gonna leave that one alone
