He doesnt, he has a hemi. They dont make 5.9s in the 3rd gens except for the 02

 

I've had my 2003 5.9 for 7 years and I always averaged about 11mpg city/highway and 6-8mgp towing a 16' enclosed trailer in Colorado. About 6 months ago I did the E-Fan mod and seemed to have gained 1.5-2mpg's city/highway (didn't help towing mpg's). I also have straight pipes (no muffler), CAI, and a Hypertech programmer.

This has been the best truck ever (except MPG's) and it's paid off so it's really difficult to justify a diesel but I'm seriously considering it so I can tow easier up here in the mountains. I'm thinking the 5.9 diesel is my best bet for good mileage...
