The 4.7L motor is a good motor and I had one in a Dakota Reg. Cab that was lowered on 20" Wheels about 9 years ago...not defending the truck so much as I saw some of the previous threads where people were bashed for lifting 2WD trucks...the deal is, is that most who yap off about it either don't have a 4WD, want one, or have one and can't put the lifts on them. Those who do spend that much money and who have any sense don't usually engage the 4WD. Just to get that truck like it is right now costs over $12,000 just on parts. Most people don't have that kind of cash to throw around and then trash it off road, UNLESS it's purpose built. 95% of the lifted 4WD trucks are for show anyway, especially the nicer ones so that crap about not lifting 2WDs is crap. Desert race trucks aren't 4WDs in most cases because it's not needed, just enough suspension and tires to give ground clearance and sustain large jumps without "bottoming out". Just wanted to nudge some of the critics a little...anbody who has time and money to spend in this current economy has a lot to be proud of...everybody on here has nice trucks...those who aren't scared for the barrage...post some lifted 2wd pics if you have one...

I love my new Hemi powered Ram, but my old 4.7L was nothing to laugh at, it could spin my 35" Toyo's without hesitation, it towed reasonably well, accelerated reasonably well, off-roaded reasonably well, and looked exceptional. The only complaint I had about that truck was the problem it had searching for gears all the time, other than that two thumbs up!

I never said my truck was badass, never claimed it to be. It's just an 04 1500 qc 4x4. nothing special at all. I just like getting folks riled up.......... I just think it's funny that folks get bent out of shape that doesn't matter. YOU enjoy your truck, and that's all that matters.

I personally don't see the point in 2wd lifted trucks, or a big truck with a small motor........But that's just it, it's not MY truck. It was more of a joke than anything.....

I got a 4.7 RC 6 inch lift. 34 inch Nittos 4.56 gears. I love it. Just with all the hunting I do I need a 4x4. So it sucks being limited or having to drag 12 doz full body canadian geese decoys across a field. But the problem comes with getting a new truck in loosing a well maintained low miles truck for a 4x4 that might have been romped on with higher miles. I just can't justify it as of now. Maybe one day I will get what I need/want

I really wanted a 4x4 when I bought my new truck, but I found this truck at a great price and in reality in Southern California, 4x4 isn't really necessary for the .5 inches of rain we get a year
