"Roll-On" bedliner
Hey Everyone,
I am in the market to pick up some Roll-On Bedliner for my 07 Ram 1500. From my understandings, it's a fairly simple task to do as long as it's dried properly.
Does anyone here have experience with any of the roll-on material? Any good brands out there that you would recommend? Other comments?
Thanks,
BWhelan

Ive seen a few done and have used the stuff on things other than a truck bed before. Its a fairly cheap but time intensive mod for your truck. The stuff really helps out if you use your bed though. Herculiner has always been my choice product, easy to find and works well.
Make sure you sand the bed really good and prep it well. A good wax/grease remover, a REALLY good sand, a wire wheel for the rust, and blow it out well with air. Then some mineral spirits, etc to prep and start rolling. About 5 quarts will do it

I did Herculiner in a truck and I wouldn't do it again. Proper prep makes it last but the finish isn't one I like in the bed. Gimme a drop in plastic liner any day. Second would be a professional spray-in, maybe if I hauled really wild loads in the back. From now on I'll use the roll-in stuff only for wheelwells and other trim work.
Herc is good stuff but it cant stand the UV rays. It will fade and turn gray in a year or so. A lot of the jeep guys like the Raptor liner and its tint able to any color you want. Its like a hundred bucks and its sprayed on. Comes with the gun too i thinks.
Ive had the Herc on my fourwheeler racks for about 5 years, and they sit in the sun. Still looks good to me. But remember you are paying maybe $100 for a gallon to do the stuff, and they use 4-5 gallons for the professionally done liner
You are paying for prep and hours worth of labor. Obviously its going to hold up alot longer and look better. You might be throwing down .1" or so with the DIY roll on, its just hard to have a really durable finish with that

Had the Herculiner in my jeep years back and the guy who has it now says its the only thing thats keepin the jeep togther. The plastic ones had there time. I think theres a company called dura-liner, they have panels that bolt into the bed i beleive.
Yeah i helped a buddy "paint" his ford ranger with herculiner. It took a weekend but it turned out really good and makes a great lease truck. 3 years later and it still has a nice dark color to it.
