Default Really bad gas mileage

Ok ive had the truck for almost 4 months. It's a 2006 4x4 mega cab 1500 hemi

I'll have to double check what the gears are but I've been getting a maximum of 10 or 11 miles to the gallon. Actually vie probably never even touched that. I get an average of 220 to 250 miles out of the 36 gallon tank. Ive recently taken off my 26s for 22. So a little less weight i guess. But still. Are other heavy duty hems getting 7 8 or 9 miles
To the gallon.

I know its a heavy lifted sluggish truck but ive heard of other hemis getting at least double digits.

I bought the truck fully aware the mileage would be bad. I just wanted to compare against other heavy hemis I wanted a diesels but couldn't afford it up front

Welcome to the winter gas milage club man, richer fuel, worse winds, and worse road conditions lead to bad MPGS for trucks

Not only the weight or rotation weight of those rims and tires (trust me I feel your pain) but the HEMI and the MC were are bad combo. IMO Chrysler never should have put that engine in a MC but made a CTD standard. Talk to MegaBlackTank on here and he will tell you his MPG suck as well as he has a HEMI and MC.

By chance, what did you do with your 26s and are they 8 lug or 5?

I'm getting 13 MPG now on my low-speed, lots of stop signs, back-road commute. That's with the 2500HD QC and 5.7 Hemi. Down from 15 MPG in the Summer. Never seen single-digit MPG even when towing. (In fact, I get 13 MPG when highway towing 5000+ lb!)

Default Pain in the GASS mileage

What 13 in the winter? Right now that would be great! I'm lucky to get 12 mpg here in the "NJ Freeze out" Winter fuel on every corner no place to turn. I always got 14.5 to 16 in summer and 17 to 19 long trip highway NO LOAD. Now, I can't wait til spring. I have to say this winter fuel mix affects everyone and effects all vehicles, what with decreases in mileage how is it the enviroment gets any help at all? Isnt' the change in fuel mixes and pollution the reason for the fuel mixes?

I'm getting 13 MPG on QC with 17" wheels so I assume 10-11 MPG on MC with 22" wheels is not too bad

And BTW what octane do you use? Switching from 87 to 89 gave me +2MPG, will try 91 now.

Default Weedhoe and 771 chime in here........

I think going to 91 octane is a bad idea, causes a reduction not an increase I use 89 as per Chrysler Owners Manual which explains a loss of fuel effiency if you go to a higher octane. Further you can drop down if necessary, but don't go higher with Hemi's and MDS in 2007. Then of course you Tuner Guys out there can shed real light on performance. Regards, Michael

What is your axle ratio? That maybe a contributing factor. Plus the Mega is pretty darn heavy, so your Hemi is working hard to pull it.
