Here's some videos that made me decide:

The link on the top of the video is different than the embedded video? but is my favorite. Also I think this was actually someone's old truck on this site.

okay- went to autozone and got the muffler- however i bought the Cherry Bomb Turbo instead of the extreme, they needed to order the Extreme and i didnt want to wait. Looked up the turbo it sounds just as good and i figured once i dump the pipe in the back and with the combonation of the cold intake I already have, it'll be sick.

so, installing it should be easy right? my pipes are new, so there wont be any rust- its a matter of just sliding off the stock and putting the new one on right? or is there more involved? i looked up videos but most were switching out entire exhaust systems...

It should be as simple as that. I assume you are going to clamp it on?

The Turbo has a good sound, but if I'm not mistaken it's a chambered design, so not quite as free flowing as the Extreme or Vortex. Also, it's the bargain end model so it doesn't have the enamel paint that reacts to heat and forms the rust proof coating. Over-all, for what it costs though, it's not a bad muffler.

If'n it were me, I'd weld it...

your totally right...thats what the guy told me. unfortunetly the only mufflers in stock they had were dual out's or a bunch of wicked lame ones- otherwise id hafta wait 4-5 days to have it ordered. im inpatient.

as it turns out, i need to find a guy with a big heart and a welder, because your also right- my whole exhaust system is welded so im guna hafta hunt that lucky person down first anyway so i'll be waiting either way unfortunetly...

Well, I've done level kits, lifts, welded mufflers, built CAIs and done general tune-ups and repairs for members on this forum in the past for nothing more than a 6 pack or 12 pack of beer. So I guess I could weld your muffler on for you.
Might be a bit of a drive for you though, as I'm in Florida. You're in luck though, I'll be closer next week for about a month or so at my farm property in south Georgia. Almost 7 hours less of a drive for you, LMAO...

I've done all my own welding since I was about 15, just did my muffler last spring, my welds aren't too bad:

If the inlet of the new muffler matches when you want to dump it, it should be fairly easy. My cherrybomb I couldn't use clamps? The shop I got it from had one and apparently it was a racing application and didn't have the enamel coating either..

I'm trying to decide on what to do with my Exhaust, though mine is still stock. I was rolling around on the ground today and pretty much decided you can't just clamp in a new one, the stock is HUGE. So I'm trying to weigh my options

Do I opt for the bolt on kit and do it myself? I'm looking at the Cherry Bomb 300647 kit, as well as a flowmaster cat back. Both seem to be around the same price, which is good as I'm running on a budget (Just bought a Bakflip F1, and a Tailgate lock).

I've also thought about just having someone add a piece of pipe and weld in a muffler, leaving the stock re's in place.

I'm not looking for anything overly loud, but I'm not against it either, I'm just looking for better than stock sound at a decent price.

If I go with the bolt in system, it should be something I can do for myself correct? I really haven't had a chance to do much to my truck due to the current job issues, but I'm looking to do something with my tax refund. Let me know what you guys think.

PS Sorry if I Hijacked your thread, didn't seem like it was worth starting a new one, aside from the 4.7 vs 5.7.. lol
