I agree that if you must sell don't go to Carmax. They will low ball you because they need room to make a profit. I have sold lots of stuff throuh E Bay and have had good results. And I agree don't buy a Ford.

+2... You wouldnt be able to get the same condition truck down the line for the money... that you know was well cared for. Ulness a family member slides you the bro-deal. Good luck man. Another option is get a bicycle and ride as much as possible. I lived at camelback and northern and rode my bike everywhere...

He's already got a $400 a month truck payment... I'm not thinking refinancing it is gonna do him much good. All depends on what he owes on it. Even if it was only 10 grand, that would still be about $200 a month.

IN FIRST PARAGRAPH!!!!

"two i owe about $5500 bucks on the truck, its is a 2003 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Hemi SB, what should i expect to get for it from say carmax or am i better to try and private party sell it?" That was in his opening paragraph! Hence my statement...

Hahahaha, I'm such a dipsh!t. How I overlooked that is beyond me.

That would be a decent option for him then. With refinancing (at $100 a month), that would be like him not having to pay a gas bill (compared to the way it is now with a $400 a month payment + gas). Only thing is, will a bank allow him to refinance an eight year old truck for 4 years?

Well i did some looking around, two Fords that i were looking at sounded great on cars.com and craigslist however when i checked them out they were crap. Carmax wanted to give me 4k for my truck when they had an identical truck from mine almost (not in as good of shape as mine) for 11k. I talked to my bank (chase) about refinancing and i could it would drop my payment down to $128 a month which is much more do-able. My only thoughts there are do i really want to be making payments on what will be a 12 year old truck with well over 100k on it? So for right now i am just going to suck it up and deal with it. I may just de-insure it and let it sit in the garage and use my tax return to buy $1000 saturn for commuting purposes but for right now the Dodge stays and my diet continues to consist of rice and ramen. (exaggerating lol) Thanks for all the advice fellas it is greatly appreciated and nice to know theres others going through the same stuff.

LMAO... I've never had it myself. I'm a Jack Daniels kinda guy, will do Seagrams in a pinch. Kinda like Crown Royal.
But my original post was gonna be "For God's Sake, don't get rid of your truck" which then was gonna be "Lord Calvert, hold onto that thing", but then I figured the under 21 crowd wouldn't get it, so it become just "Lord Calvert!" with the pic. LOL...
