Softer ride?
Hi folks,
I need an advice regarding the ride of my truck. When I bought it I knew that the ride will be rougher then a regular vehicle and I'm fine with it but each time when my wife goes with she complaints that she is getting sick because of such rough ride. In our bumpy country roads we feel each bump so she wants me to exchange my truck to SUV with softer ride. Now, is there anything that I can do to softer a ride? My truck is stock, no improvements yet. Opinions/advices are welcome.

That would be the day!! Some SUV's have a rougher ride than a truck!!! Lose about 5 psi in the tires...that should improve it a bit.

Can you recommend particular shocks? Shocks are in front isn't it? Do I need something for the rear?
Run the tires on the softer side (which will cost you a couple of mpg's but will soften the ride).
Look into a good aftermarket hydrogen filled shock as opposed to a nitrogen filled shock. Hydrogen is much less dense than Nitrogen and as such, will yield a softer ride. I run nitrogen shocks on my truck, but hydrogen on my Grand Cherokee as it's my daily driver. Hydrogen is among the least dense (lightest) of gases with a density of .000089 g/cm3 or about 1/14th that of oxygen. Nitrogen, by comparison has a density of about .808 g/cm3.
Another thing you can do is either remove a leaf on each side in the rear or simply place a couple of sand bags over the axle.
OR
You could grow a set and tell the wife you have a truck, YOUR truck and you like the way it rides... LMAO...

I gotta agree with Hammer though. My wife has HER car and I have MY truck. I dont like her car as it is too small and too low to the ground. But I dont say anything about it because SHE loves her car. Likewise, she doesnt say anything about my truck.
I know this doesnt help the OP but all i can suggest is what has already been, lose some air and change shocks. If nothing else, drop it to the ground and then see how much it bounces around.....LOL

Take her car from now on if she rather not ride in your truck. That's what I make my wife do when she's being picky and conceded. It's not the rough ride that makes her sick, it's her imagination that allows her to become sick. My wife is the same way...ugh...
Go with new front shocks and possibly go to a C-rated tire when it's time to get new shoes. The sidewall will be softer and the need to run less air pressure is not needed. I wouldn't run anything under 30psi in any of my vehicles. Too low of pressure can heat up your tires much more than too much presure and can cause tire failure especially when on the highway.
if you really want a soft ride, you could get a suspension lift. They are a bit floaty, but some that I have been in are much smoother than stock, but bigger tires feel less of the road as well. You'll get complaints about that too I bet...lol
