Yep, I live in Pennsylvania. I do expect to pick up a few MPG once this cold weather passes. I agree on the tire pressure, it is a killer..... BTW- I added a photo of the hog from the day i bought it, i will be adding more once i get some exterior add-ons and also one of the exhaust set-up for those others on the forum. I have to admit, for a classic car owner and liking the nice rumble of a V8, I was impressed with the trucks sound. It has super low end performance, but it has disappointing high end performance, 50-55 mph +. But I did not buy it for a "hot rod" so no harm with its high gearing...
I have a 2001 Durango 4.7 and I usually get about 10-12 mpg average. I just went to my local oreilley auto and picked up a 3" Spectre flex intake tube and a couple hose clamps and re did my intake setup. I gained about 2mpg city and 4-6 mpg highway. And it only cost me $30!
I may be in the market for a CAI system but as of now the ol 4.7 does the job good enough for me. Some day ill get an exhaust system Intake System, and a tuner. But getting the gas mileage I do it scares me what will happen to my numbers after all of that....
I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 4 door and have a 3 1/2 drive to get from home to college and i get anywhere from 13-16 mpgs but its all highway. As soon as I hit town mpg goes way down under 10.
My 02 1500 4x4 QC 77000 miles that I just traded got 13 mpg with all the mods, cat back single exhaust, homemade CAI, performance module, new plugs at 72000 miles, synthetic oil with lucas additive and every 5000 chevron techron fuel system cleaner. When towing I got 8 mpg.
Yeah Mick sounds like you need to do a good tune up on youre truck. My 02 4x4 with 9in lift and 37's with 100,000 miles and 3.92 gears averages 13.8 (hand caculated). When I got my truck I was lucky to get 10, I changed the plugs, air filter, cleaned the throttle body, done the sea foam treatment, also ran some complete fuel treatment, changed everthing except the tranny fluid to royal purple, installed a superchip programer (highly recommend). I'm getting ready to add a dyi cold air intake to see if it will help even more. I also have a flowmaster exhaust dumped at the rear axle.
Can someone explain to me what and where the throttle body is? I'd like to keep my truck in good shape and at 79000 miles I think it may be a good idea. Thx
