Default Replacement Step pad 2004 Ram 1500

So I have lost one of the step pads that was on the running boards. I called the dealer and they said they can get a pair in for about $111.

I believe they are on a mopar running board (running board is cylindrical or tubular and chrome like color. Step pad is black, screws in and has the dodge emblem in the middle).

Questions:
Anywhere I can get the step pads cheaper.

How do they fasten in? (It appears that they screw in. However, some of my other step pads have a screw loose and I can turn the screw but it doesn't actually tighten down the step pad)

Dunno where you can buy the pad cheaper. I started buying Westin nerfs myself because all the "no-name" nerf bars I ever had experienced the same thing, not to mention pitting and other issues.

They are probably self tapping screws which is why the existing ones wiggle now.

If it was me, I'd take the screws out of all of them and hit the holes with a pop rivet...

Agreed, you could likely find a good replacement set of bars on CL local to you for a good price

111 for a couple pieces of plastic... amazing isn't it? You can probably find new running boards for that much in perfectly good shape.

But then I need to install the new running boards...I'm not really savvy like that.

They simply bolt in place. Its not hard and you need no special tools. Just maybe an extra set of hands and a socket set.

You gotta be kidding??? That is simply turn a ratchet and wrench stuff. I got a 13 year old niece in south Georgia who has installed nerf bars (and a receiver hitch for that matter)...

It really is simple. If you got 1 arm and a little help you could still do it. I understand tho. My bro. inlaw only had his mom growin up, did'nt even know how to put a new battery in his car. I learn im as much as I can, and his confidence is starting to grow. I think the biggest fear is they're gonna f something up real bad. I was fortunate enough to have one of those dads that could fix almost anything, so I picked that stuff up, and try to pass on and help when I can.

No joke! I'm from So Cal and even I can install running boards! haha...

All joking aside, it is only about 4 nuts and bolts around size 15mm. If you really dont feel comfortable tackling a job like this, maybe you should fork out the extra dough for just the step pads. If you go this route, I hope they come with really well written instructions and detailed pictures
