Default quick vacuum line question

Can anyone tell me what this vacuum line runs to? I am thinking about doing away with my air cleaner box and installing a cone type filter. Can I just unhook the line? Do I need to put a small cone type filter on the end of this vacuum line also? Thanks

Small cone filter that is about $7 at an auto parts store is fine...

Here is a good shot of one of the CAIs I made for one of our members:

Not to thread jack or anything, but how come that hose (that connects to the airbox) is routed all the way over to my oil fill cap? It doesn't look like yours does.

It actually run back to the top of the block. To the left and behind the throttle body. The rubber reconnects to what appears to be a steel nipple sticking out of the top of the block. Rubber 90 at the air box and another rubber 90 where it reconnects to the nipple in the top of the block. Sorry best picture I could get in that tight spot.

Huh, well thats odd. Do you have a Hemi?

On my motor, that tube goes from that spot on the airbox to the other side of the motor and ties into the oil cap.

Mine ties into the oil filler as well. The original hose ran to the Hemi-hat. I had to get a short extension hose to reach the nipple on the intake tube. My air box has a blocked-off place where the hose may have gone. Must be year-specific.

No I have a 4.7l magnum. Yea wierd, it 90's out of the airbox, goes back about 24", and has a rubber 90 again that connects to the nipple out of the top of the block.

Hammer Z71 can you tell me just what the line that you put the little cone filter on is? And what it is it hooks into on the back left of the block?

By golly that may be exactly what it is. Makes sense being as it runs from the airbox to the position in your diagram. I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to do what Hammer said. Not that I didn't believe ya Hammer.
This sounds like it may be a good project for today, if so I will post pics when I get it done.
