I've got an 05 dodge 1500 regular cab with the 4.7 it's got the stock pipe that somebody put a flowmaster dump on and it seems like it doesn't have enough back pressure every time I stomp on the gas it sounds like it's blowing out air there's not really any kind of rumble sound like on a stock exhaust anyways I wanna kno what my new exhaust setup needs to be I'm wAnten torque a muffler shops gonna do the work my brother thinks I need to do 2.5in pipe from the headers back into glasspacks no cats or mufflers I kno the shop will take the cats off they've done it to my bros ford I don't want any kind of flowmaster exhaust what do u guys suggest I would like to have no cats or mufflers I can get the straight pipe done at the shop for 300
The bigger the pipes the less torque you'll have. For a 4.7, Id go with 2 1/4 inch pipe, and good mufflers such as magnaflow or dynomax. If you take off the cats and the muffler, and use big pipe, your truck will run crappy. You need a little back pressure to make torque
