The wire connectors are different from 02-05 and 06-08. You cannot just plug an 08 taillight into an 05 Ram. You will have to change out the connectors, and even then I am not sure if all of the wires are the same..

taillights fit with slight modification. Extra bulb on the 02-06's needs to be capped.
anybody wanna swap a set of mint 2005 tails for a set off a 2007-2008?
