Default bed coating

Hi, Does anyone have any recomendations for bed coating products that would be good to use to cover my diamond plate tool boxes that are now starting to tarnish. Looking for someone with personal experience with the product and how it was to work with and how it turned out and how it is holding up. Thanks. Also has anyone tried the Bed Armor by Duplicolor?

I helped my roommate do his bed with the Herculiner. You can get it at Pep-Boys or Autozone and it comes with a specific roller. It went on fairly easy (not exactly uniform) but turned out looking pretty good. It is a really tough stuff and has held up pretty well over the last year or so. If you put about 3 coats on your tool box it would probably look more uniform and be even more indestructible. We put two coats on his bed for what it's worth.

I've got a Line-X liner in my truck. After 2 years it's starting to peel.

The WHOLE DEAL here is the prep work. Aluminum boxes are clear-coated and nothing adheres well to clear coat. Paint has a hell of a time sticking, Plasti-Dip and bed liner do a better job initially, but scratch off easily and begin to peel over time.

A rough grit sand paper or better yet, a bronze wire wheel on a drill will remove the clear, get in all the nooks and crannies, and will roughen the surface up to the point that any product will stick well. If you do this and then use a bed liner product, it should pretty much outlast the truck...

I've also used herculiner, but it faded on me after a while. They do make a UV protectant that should prevent it from fading.

Thanks Hammer that is exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I would think that a bronze wheel on a grinder would speed thongs up a bit. On a side note isn't it a **** off that they put that coating on there knowing full well that it only lasts for one year and can't be polished back to it's original shine. Ok rant over.
Thanks again.

i've used a paint called "endura" on tool boxes, u can buy it at any napa store. comes in quite a few colors and is almost like an epoxy finish, the shyt is hard to take off with a screw driver. But like Hammer said the prep is the most important factor.
