Default Warranty issue - engine restriction

I have a 08 - 2500 CTD that I purchased from a Dodge dealer in Alberta in November 2010. I live in BC. During the purchase process I asked a few times about the warranty and was told that there were no issues.

This week I had the truck in for some other issues and found out that there is a warranty restriction on the engine. Essentially the warranty was removed for the engine because as Chrysler Canada has explained "overheat due to loss of coolant through heater system installed by owner".

So I have two issues.
1) I don't have a warranty on the engine.
2) I may have a damaged engine.

Has anyone been through a similar issue and if so what was the resolution path? Is there anything I can check to see if any damage has occurred?

Yes there is something you can do! The dealer should have record of that particular invoice. They should be able to tell you right down to the minute it was diagnosed by the tech and what he found. The dealer is actually responsible for the miss information in the US. Not sure about Canada, If the dealer is repratable they should do something about it as well, but these days its iffy! My best advice is to be persistant with them if that doesnt work get a lawyer. That Information should have been disclosed to you before the sale of the vehicle. Especially if you asked about the warranty. An hopefully you got that in black and white from the dealer. You should not half to pay for someone eleses misfortune!

I wonder if the other guy did a driveway job, messed it up, and the dealer fixed it but said the possible damages voided any warranty

You also can try asking this in the Cummins section, I'm sure people there will be more knowledgeable on CTD warranty...

There should be documentation on the warranty status in your dealer paperwork
