Default Ford 8 bolt to a Dodge 8 bolt???

Are newer Ford 8 bolt rims able to fit on a newer Dodge 8 bolt?

Ford pre-'98 bolt pattern was 8 on 7.5" after which they "got metric" and went to 8 on 170mm which is roughly 6.7".

3rd Gen Ram HDs are 8 on 6.5", so a Ford wheel will not fit.

GM shares the same 8 on 6.5" bolt pattern, but the hub is smaller. The "in thing" around here is for Ram CTD guys to buy Hummer H2 wheels and bore the center hub out and put them on their trucks...

Do you think you could drill them out a bit to fit? I can get a great deal on some Ford 20's off a F-250 Harley Davidson truck for $300 and tires.

I wouldn't myself, and I think if you ever had an accident and it was discovered that the wheels were "modified" to fit, they'd leave you high and dry.

But could it be done? I suppose so...

I suppose its worth noting that the new Chevy bolt pattern for the 3/4 tons and 1 tons is now 8-180 (and you can get stock 20's too).

Why cant car manufacturers just make it easy and leave stuff like this alone?
