Default Variable valve timing

So I have been told by a few Machine shops that a cam in a Variable valve timed HEMI is not possible ie: 4/8 Cylinder switch, any feedback? 5.7L

There are cams available for both the MDS equipped ('06+) and MDS/VVT (09+) Hemis. Although I have no idea why the '09+ is called a VVT, to me it's a VCT or at least to my way of thinking. But then again, is a modern Hemi a Hemi (nope).

Inertia Motorsports has had a version of their Crazy Spartan cam for the '09s since about February of '09. I think they have three or four variation grinds on it now, all of which are VVT and MDS friendly but require different levels of tuning and support hardware (heads, forged pushrods, etc.).

I believe all Arrington X-series cams are for '09+ VVT Hemi engines as well...

Variable Valve Timing. You need an 09-up block, PCM, etc to put it in a 06-08 engine since your block doesn't have the required oil passages and such to activate the VVT.

I think Ford calls it VCT I think.
