Pretty much parked the truck.
I bought a 00 Chrysler G/V 3.3 a few weeks back to help aleviate the pain at the pump. I have put less than 200 miles on the Ram in as much time, while logging almost 3,000 miles on the G/V. Almost the same payload as the ram (400 lbs less), more space in the back, and 23 MPG loaded to boot. Hate to drive a fwd for work with the weight in it(lousy wet traction) but the mileage almost makes up for it. Anyone else done something similar. I have seen a lot of trucks for sale around here. Still need mine to pull trailer.

My DD let's me leave the truck parked a good bit, so at least with all the money in mods I have in the truck I'm not piling up miles on it and having to replace it soon. Just hit 50k miles and I've had it seven years as of early April.
But my DD ain't exactly a gas sipper either, being a Grand Cherokee with a 4.7 HO V8 and it's also a 4x4. Worse thing is: I lifted it and put bigger meats on it too.

If things don't pick up here soon I'm going to be doing the same. Finding a $1000 4 cyl beater as a DD. When my truck was working everyday and making $50/hr it made sense to drive it all the time. But now since the snow has stopped it's no longer making me money and quickly emptying my pockets.
Park it except for when I have to pull trailers for work and weekend adventures.

I drive in with my wife (Ford Ranger) during weekdays since we work at the same company. Its a company vehicle which they pay 100% gas, registration and insurance and for $20 a week we can use it 100% for personal use.
I drive to work and she drives home so we gotta deal with each other driving methods which can be painful and we both wish we could be knocked out for the duration while the other is driving LOL. but the savings gained and less wear and tear on our own vehicles is worth it.
Her gas reimburstments recently have been around $130-150 every 2 weeks so its a nice savings. Office is about 30 miles away from our house in the boonies.

Driving my truck is a pleasure experience for me, not just a DD. It would make sense for me to buy a 4 banger but it's really a dreadful experience everytime I get behind the wheel of the gf's chevy prism.. To me the satisfaction of driving my truck is worth the extra gas expense. Not to mention it's an animal in the upstate NY snow

I am currently in the process of purchasing a DRZ 400 super moto to save on gas money to and from work. I don't live far from work, but it makes more sense to spend $10 a week in gas just to get to work than it does $50 per week to get to work. Not to mention it will practically pay for itself with the current gas prices in about a year. (for a used one, not brand new)
