it was the same for me i paid 15,000 and got 5,000 for my old dodge so it ended up being 10,000 idk im confused

 

That's the issue here, he says in one post he got them down to $13,900 which included TT&T (a good deal IMO) and hadn't sprung the trade-in on them yet.

So in the post where he says he got it, he states they gave him $5000 for his trade and he was "out the door" for $12,000. The numbers don't work for me. If the poor guy has a $12,000 note to pay, he's actually bought that truck for $17,000 and got ripped, IMO.

Maybe he'll pop back on and clarify for us...

 

Yea I think we just need to wait for him to clear it up for us lol

 

Hammer thanks for the "welcome"......... and the opportunity to explain...... 13,900 was Thursday's price......... went back on Friday early and worked on them a little more, took off $1,900..... Then went back late Friday with my trade, initial offer was $3000 for my trade on Friday; left the dealer at 8pm, told them I had to think about it..... salesman called me on Saturday morning telling me they would go up to $4000 on my trade...... I called them back late Saturday; I needed to get at least $5500...... he told me to come on down and we could talk, but they closed at 8pm...... they worked me down to $5,000 which left me with $7K and some change.....
$12,000 out the door was what I had worked them down to before I told them I had something to trade; I had driven my 2006 Mazda 5 to the dealership every time I went and they thought I was trading that in..... My trade was a 2001 Mercedes ML430....... I'll have to say I at least expected you guys to give me the benefit of the doubt...... or at least give me a chance to explain......... $12,000 was their final price prior to my trade..... at least bgbluram2 figured it out...... thanks

 

so this truck that was on their lot listed at over $22,000 at one time they came down to $12,000 on? boy, i thought the dealership i worked for was crooked!

 

Yep, that's the same thing that happened with my truck. It was originally listed somewhere around 24k but had been sitting on the lot for about 4 mos. (I guess Sunburst Orange isn't the most popular color ) So they red tagged my truck to 20.5k and I got them down to 18.7K. There are deals to make if you know how to get the dealership to budge. You might have to make a slight sacrifice (In my case, the color of the truck. I wanted Charcoal Grey or Black/Blue). But the truck had everything else that I wanted minus 4x4, so I couldn't pass on such a great deal for such a nice truck. I don't regret it at all. Congrats dfskinner, I think you did rather well in your purchase. Hope that truck runs well for you for a long time to come. Now let us help you mod that thing!

 

thanks bgbluram2....... at first I was going for a 2009 at another dealership, issues was it was a 2x4...... I'd looked at the new trucks, but $37-45,000 was just too much for me............ and I really like the color and set-up of my truck.....

boo-radley, yes, over $22,000, but like hammer stated; we all knew that was way too much for a 2004, even with low miles..... they were hoping at that price......

searched the link above and found several bumpers that might work; I'd really like to put a 2009 or 2010 bumper on but I'm thinking it might require lots of work..... I'm going to check, take some picks and determine what has to be done to put a 2009 or 2010 on.......... i'm retired military so I could use the auto hobby shop on base to do the work to get the new bumper on..... we'll see

I think it's a case of just seeing if some idiot with more money than sense would walk on the lot. But yeah, I see where he's coming from, taking advantage of the gullible ain't too cool. But if it weren't a cash deal it woulda never got by the bank. Loan on an '04 4x4 Laramie Hemi is gonna top out in the mid-high $14k range. I know, someone saw my truck pics on the forum and offered me right at about the price where I was seriously considering taking, about book PLUS getting back a good bit of the $13k+ in mods I've got into it. Guy had a reasonably downpayment, good (not great) credit and decent income and no bank would finance for him. The guy wanted me to take the $14,400 the bank would give him plus the $2000 he had to put down and the rest in payments. I wouldn't touch it, I might have been born at night, but it wasn't LAST NIGHT.

But for $12,000 cash price or $7000 with your trade, you done good, kid... Stock or close to it, real good shape and with those miles, that's a solid $14,000-15,000 truck, retail...

 

I'm really happen with my purchase; I spent most of the day Sunday polishing the rim's with mothers polish... the truck looks even better after working on the rims...... I took each rim off the truck so I could make sure I got the polish in every corner...... one rim has what I call either glue or something under the coating, looks kind of off white; I was able to get most of it off, and to get the area underneath to shine (I'll take some pic's when I get back home) but wanted to know if anyone knows what that is.... and I'll move the remainder of my post to the correct sections of the forum and start searching for other topics to join in on.......
