Another CAI question of course
I finally put the DIY CAI in today. But of course I ran into a problem.
Process
1. Cut Pipes to length
2. Glued pieces together
3. Drilled Sensor Hole
4. Paint
5. Assemble for installation....
6. DOHHHHHH.... my sealer for the sensor ate the paint right off......
What did you guys use to seal your sensor off with to give it a extra firm fit?
Will have pictures posted soon.

I put a small rubber grommet in the hole, it's hard to explain but the ones I get have a small channel around the center of them, so they fit around the hole very snugly. As a precaution I hit the outside of the grommet with a dab of the PVC cement and allow it to dry, but I don't think it really needs it, that grommet fits really tight. Then I just push the sensor into the grommet, it's tight enough that the sensor ain't going anywhere. The grommets are in the same section in Home Depot/Lowes where the other plumbing parts are. They come in a pack of 6 for like a buck and a half...

^^ Same as Hammer, rubber grommet with a little glue. The grommet had wavey center channel that made it fit pretty tight, but glued it just in case. I was worried it may shrink over time and end up sucked into my throttle body.
Off topic- but I grew up in Fort Wayne. Went to Wayne H.S. back in the early 90's. Couldn't wait to get away from that town.

Looks good, but boxing it in doesn't make it a TRUE CAI by any stretch. It will help keep the direct engine heat away from it, but for a true CAI you need to be taking the air directly from outside the vehicle...

I had configured a home made cai but then i decided against it because i can't keep my truck out big puddles of water and the mud so im just gonna either make one of 4" pvc to my stock air box or get the airaid mit intake.

Not even if its sitting in the factory bottom half of the air filter assembly which is fed outside air? guess I will have to spend 3 to 500 bucks.

I knew a guy that jimmy rigged a knock off Vararam by taking out his front fog lights, using a t at the throttle body and running heater hose down to the fogs. I called him up yesterday and took a ride with him, he has a similar setup as far as engine and tires as me. I really did not see any difference. Closest to True CAI ive seen, but looks pretty damn hillybilly haha.
