Default Advice needed on chip

Ive read up on g-force performance chip, it seems pretty decent for a gas engine chip, it actually does more than just trick the thermostat. I have an 08 ram 1500 with a 5.7 hemi. Would that chip be good for me or shoul i couple it with a cold air intake or stick with just an intake? I need some good advice from somebody who knows these trucks and parts please! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Here is a review I found online:

8. G-Force Performance Chip - GforceChips, GFchips.com Reviews

Ordering Process: 1/5
Shipping Speed: 1/5
Customer Service: 1/5
Return Policy: 1/5
Average HP and Torque Gain: 1/5 (For each vehicle tested we noticed a loss of 8-15 HP)
Average MPG Gain: 1/5 (We notice huge losses in MPG. These varied from 3-10 MPG.)
Cost of product: $69.00
NOTE: We did notice an engine knock after using this chip. We do not recommend this chip.

Losing 15hp and 10mpg for only $69. No thanks.

You need either a Diablosport Predator or Superchips if you really want any gains in power or economy.

A CAI will give you no mpg and very little noticeable power on a stock engine in the Ram.
The stock intake is pretty efficient. You can search thru the forum and the FAQ section about building your own CAI from PCV pipe.

CAI's do look good and create much more intake noise, just don't expect any big power gains.

Yep, on an '08 the Diablo tuner is pretty good, same with the Superchips. Personally I like the "canned tunes" and tranny shifting with the SC, but with higher end mods, the Diablo can carry custom tunes that the SC cannot.

As far as the "chips" go, I ain't seen one worth a damn yet...

I run a K&N drop-in filter. It flows better than the stock paper filter and will outlast the truck so you will never need to buy another filter again. Just clean and re-oil about every 50K miles. I also use a, Airaid MIT pipe that replaces the Hemi hat resonator. It supposedly flows about 400cfm more than stock, but I didn't see any real power gains, just a little more intake moan under heavy throttle.

I have been using K&N filters since the late '80s. Have never had a problem with one and I clean & re-oil them about every 15k miles. Currently have one in both of my vehicles.

You may also want to look at some of the newer dry type premium filters. Lot of new technology in the dry ones that allow them to filter and flow just as good as the oil type filters without having to mess with re-oiling...
