Gents, etc.
I have a 2005 dodge ram and want to hook up an mp3 player, and I see all kinds of adapters. However, I also see all kinds of factory radios with mp3 inputs on them, but they are later than 2005.
So, I ask, "which later model factory oem radios will fit my 2005 1500 hemi, quad cab", without any conversions or modifications, if any? And how do I know one from another, such as raz, raq, etc..

I can tell you from first-hand experience that the CD/Cassette player from a 2006 Grand Caravan fits perfectly. I recently bought my truck and the radio didn't work. I still had the factory unit from my wife's van in the garage since I upgraded her system with after-market components. Her original stereo fit as if my truck came from the factory with it. Everything connected perfectly and bolted right in. It literally took me only 5 minutes to replace the broken unit.
I just realized my signature doesn't give info on my truck... the black one is a 2005 4wd.

 

I don't know about other Chrysler products, but I know for a fact that '06+ RAM units will not work, as they communicate with the truck's computer.

 

Do yourself a favor and buy a double DIN head unit you can put in the truck. They look better and out perform most other HUs depending on the model you get. I can hook you up with a custom double DIN bezel for it
