Default Differences between 3815 and 3865?

So I looked at the page dedicated to what programmers everyone is using, but I still couldn't find a definitive answer to this question. I do know that the 3815 was superseded by the 3865, but what are the differences between the two? Are there any, or is the 3815 just the older model? To my understanding the 3815 is still supported by Superchips. Any help would be great.

3815 has no TCM support whereas the 3865 does. Thats all. There is more RAM in the 3865 that allows the additional room for more programming thus the TCM support availability.

3815 for 03 is best and 3865 is better for 04+

The 3815 does have TCM support for 04+ (rev, wot 1-2, 2-3). No advance trans options support with the 3815.

The 3865 can handle the advanced trans options for 04+ (all part throttle shifts and full torque management, in addition to the above).

I would be using it mainly for the performance tune, shifts and to disable MDS. So I should probably opt for the 3865 then? There is a 3815 on CL for 200$ not too far from me.. I think I'll just wait until pay day and get a 3865.

Normally I don't mind having an 03 but it would be amazing to have control over part throttle shifting! At least killing the torque management was quick and free.

I'll live with what I've got till I can afford the new style Ram. I have a whopping 75k miles so I may have this truck for a long time to come.

What about the 3950 Cortex? I found one for $200. Is this a good deal? Will this programmer allow me to do everything that the 3865 does? Mainly disable MDS?

Good deal. Will do everything 3865 does. Yes to MDS Disable.

Make sure tuner is unlocked from current VIN.
