Question Debadged now Rebadging. Wax First? [Pics]

I am replacing the "R A M 1 5 0 0" badges on my doors with the cleaner "RAM" badge that is on the 2008 Ram 1500's.

Now that I have removed and cleaned up the old badging, should I wax before or after placing the new badges?

Thanks for the input!

Here are some progress photos for those who are interested.

Started with some fishing wire

i wouldn't think you'd want to wax the area that your getting ready to put the badge on. Wouldn't the wax prevent good adhesion?

Definitely don't wax it. Remember those instructions for adhesives - "Remove all grease, dirt, wax, etc., before applying..." WIpe the immediate surface with alcohol first.

I would get some acetone and wipe off the area too. don't worry it wont eat the factory paint. I had a incident were a bunch of white paint flew off a truck and covered the whole street and everyone that went through it had there care destroyed with white. anyway I had a whole towel soaked in acetone cleaning off the whole truck.

No, no waxing. You'll have problems getting the decals to stick.
Acetone is fine IF you know how to use it and is commonly used by detail/body shops. Acetone directly on paint is a no-no, but it's fine on clear coat provided you wash the vehicle afterwards. It's not recommended to let acetone sit on the clear for long, especially in the sun.

Alcohol will clean almost as well and is a LOT safer.

Put you your decals on and a day or two later, wax the area...

Right on guys, thanks for the input. I'll go at it with some rubbing alcohol (I don't trust myself with the acetone) and then place and wax.

Thanks again!
