Hi!

I'm going to look at a dodge ram 2500 -05 5,9 cummings this weekend, but I've never drove one before. So I'm just curious to know if there is something I should know and look at on the car? Its gonna be my first ram.

Quad cab/ Crew cab for 5 passengers, 4x4, SLT, one owner.
And its been in for service regularly and looks to be in good condition.

I'm a new swedish member so the grammar maybe isn't the best.
But I'm wishing the all of you a good swedish "midsommar"!

Easy checks are the tires and brakes. You can check the fluid level of the oil, transmission, coolant, brakes to reinforce that it as been maintained. Take for a reasonable drive and check the mileage out and post the number here. The 5.9 cummins usually get good mileage.

If the owner will let you, jack up the front end and check for play in the suspension. I'd recommend a used vehicle inspection with any new purchase, even if they find some minor stuff it will give you leverage on price!

Yup,

At the very least get a front end inspection, the extra weight tends to make the front end steering, suspension components wear faster. U-joints, axle joints, front driveline double cardigan. Get it scanned and make sure there aren't any codes stored.

Ask for maintenance receipts. If its been taken care of, the Cummins is a truly time tested package, and can give years of service.

Okey, I should look at the front end of the car. Is it important that the car is leveled in the front and back of the car? Could that be a sign if the front end/back end is damaged?

The car has gone about 8800 miles (14000mil)

See if the owner will let you take an oil sample, you can look at the outside all you want, but an oil test will tell you what you cannot see. Go to your local CAT dealer and buy a oil test tube, the testing is included in the price, take an oil sample, return it to CAT and they will give you the results via e-mail. We do this will all of the used Deisels that we buy at work.
