Got gears.
Unfortunately last week I fell victim to the retaining clips falling out and so needless to say I got 4.56 gears and a detroit truetrac installed and just got the truck back today. Feels great and slowing breaking them in. I have stock 265/70/17 tires and am churnin about 2500 rpm at 65mph, yet the lie-o-meter says I am actually getting 22 mpg while cruising at that speed. Anyways so far the gears are better than I expected.
Congrats!!! You'll love 'em. Just break them in correctly:

Yep, that RPM would be indicative of the 45rfe and not the 545rfe which in essence gives a second over-drive gear. I run 2150 rpms at 70 mph with my 35s and 4.56 gears (which shows why I needed 4.56s).
Incidentally, there is no physical difference between the two, just transmission programming. The StarScan tool can turn your 45rfe into a 545rfe with the click of an option button IF you can find a dealer willing to do it. Some do (and even for free) some won't touch it with a 10' pole...

Yep it has the 4 speed, i thought there was a mod that uses the jeep pcm that would reprogram it also? Getting the extra gear would probably help a little bit. I don't really know the full extent of the damage besides when we pulled the cover the gear oil was silver and the carrier could move from side to side.
Oh and if I somehow got my truck flashed and got the extra gear, would the superchips transmission tuning be available? I seem to remember it was only for the later year models?
