Default Frickin dash trim panel

I got into my truck yesterday and saw something near the center channel speaker. "Hmm, is that dust or something?" Nope. As I touched it to brush it away, the plastic gave way and I now have a nice hole directly over the speaker. It looks just like a 70s GM truck now, ready for farm duty.

The best part is that piece is $250 to replace. It's easy to do but that's a good chunk of change lost because someone didn't make the plastic robust enough to last more than a few years.

I'm restoring a 92 Lexus and its dash is perfect after 20 years (built in June 01) of baking in the Georgia sun. I wish manufacturers hadn't switched to naked vacuum formed plastic from the old padded vinyl-covered variety.

Mine cracked a couple of weeks ago, from the passengers side tweeter to the windshield. Where did you find the replacement for that price?

Does anyone know if a dash from a 2004 1500 would fit in my 2003 3500??

I know some model years had the same dash for the 1500-3500, but I cant find any information about the 2003 model years.

Thanks!!

2002 1500 to at least 2005 1500/2500/3500 should all be interchangeable. Dunno if 06 and newer will work since they redesigned the interiors and changed the colors. 2002 2500/3500 is still a 2nd gen body.

I have the same problem. Mine has cracked from the windshield through the center speaker and along the front as well. Looks like it will be in 2 pieces soon. This happened in April in NC. Not exactly scorching outside.

if you can get one from a newer 06-08 ram that would be better. No idea if it would fit but I know for a fact that the older trucks have a dash made of PVC.. which dries out and cracks. The 06-08 trucks have a dash made of ABS plastic which does not have the same issue.

It would be interesting to find out if they changed that panel when they redesigned the dash.
