Default New rims question???

Im looking to get a set of new rims but I dont want them to stick way out of the wheel wells. What numbers am I looking for if looking at a 18" rim? For example I seen these on Ebay but have no clue on how they will look. Thanks for the help.

The greater the backspacing means the more it will tuck the wheel/tire under the truck, also the same with offset, so a negative offset will stick out farther than a positive offset will.

So the ones you are looking at won't push the tire out much at all, if any.

To answer the other thread you started, just remember, more offset/backspacing means less room to clear wider tires. I know with a positive offset wheel on a 1500 you'd not fit a 12.5" wide tire without spacers (which will stick the tires out from under the well more), not sure if they'd fit with a 2500, but I'm sure it'd be close if they did.

With those wheel specs, I'd try to stay around 11.5" on the width. A 295/70/18 would be a good choice for you with your level installed, this would be about a 34.5" tall by 11.5" wide tire...

So in your opinion what size do you think I should run?

Hammer quick question? Do tires and rims go hand n hand? If so I never knew this. I have 295/70/17 on my truck..good size tire.

Well I wouldn't really say they go hand in hand, but you do have to match wheel width with tire width or you could have a problem keeping the bead. Ideally you want the tire to be 3" wider than the wheel with a 1" -/+ being considered in specification.

Yeah, good size tire. But this is why I hate the metric tire sizes. The 295/70/18 I suggested to ccgRAMrod measures roughly 34 1/2"x11 1/2", while your 295/70/17 measures roughly 33 1/3" x 11 2/3".
If you'll notice also, it's like they can't make up their freakin' mind, the 295 and 70 are in millimeters while the 17/18 are in inches! What's up with that? Never made much sense to me.
A 35x12.5x17 and a 35x12.5x18 is the same size tire, just the hole in the middle is an inch larger on the 18's. Makes more sense to me...

Hammer, out of curiosity what size rims and tires are you running? What are your specs on your rims?

35"x12.5"x17s, 17" Mickey Thompson Classic II wheels, 17x9, 4.5" backspacing, -12mm offset. My tires stick out about 2-2 1/2" outside the wells...
