Default Need help. Cargo light wiring?

So I have been trying to wire some led's behind my grille that will go on with the cargo lamp when I click unlock on the remote. I found the wires that run from the cargo lamp, down to the drivers side a-pillar. There were 4 of the same color wires as the cargo lamp (black, white/brown stripe, pink/blue stripe, red/yellow stripe) and i tried tapping into all of them one by one. none of them would power the led's except the red/ yellow stripe wire, the only problem is the led's were always on while powered by that wire and never turned off. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the leds to turn on and off with the cargo lamp?
Any advice would help because I've been at this for a while...
Thanks

No, not the interior dome lighting, the cargo light that lights up the bed of the truck outside the cab. I have led's in that light and I want led's behind the grille that match and go on with it when I press unlock

yea, I took out the 3rd brake light and looked at which wires are coming out of it and they go all the way through top of the cab so I looked in the a-piller for the matching wires and tried all of those. I explained what happened in my first post.
