air filter... how big is too big?
The size / filter area absolutely does make a difference. You can't be "too big" (insert chuckle here) but the more area you have, the less restrictive it is. They can use a more effective media and offset its lower performance by using more of it. That way you get good filtration and good flow too.
OP if you're worried about water maybe you should get one of those water resistant prefilters.
still looks like you could get some rain water in there, try these
DryCharger® - K&N DryChargers® are manufactured from a durable polyester material and are pre-treated with a proprietary hydrophobic process designed to prevent splashes of water or mud from saturating your K&N air filter,
Just find one that fits

Thanks for the responses all. The hood clears. First time really cruising with the new filter today and i never knew how folks tend to hear the suction of the intake over all the other noise elements but i must say that i now know.
There is some wiggle room to move the filter up the tube 2-3 inches but may not worry about it as the Monsoon Rain has been pretty bleak this year and the truck not being a DD.

Manifold itself is hard to say since i did a bunch of mods the same time. Also went from a top end setup to a power band that i can use on the city and highway since i mostly stay below 70.
Overall though she moves hard and can hole shot like no other.
