What gear to run in?
I just bought an 2007 2500 6.7L CTD
I bought it to pull with obviously but what gear should I run?
I did pull my rig about 500 miles last week and just left it in D (6 speed auto) with tow haul on.
Just don't want to kill my trans.
Here's what I pull

Note pulling this at 65 - 75 mph it downshifted to fifth twice I believe other than that it locked out 6th gear.

What kind of terrain? If it's flat, OD shouldn't be a problem. If you're in a particularly hilly area I'd pop the OD off. I've never had the luxury of a CTD but I haven't blown up my tranny yet by following that strategy.
Yes I run with Tow haul, which is awesome combined with the exhaust break I don't think I'll ever wear out a set of pads
I'm in Michigan we have some decent hills but no mountains, like I said it did downshift to 5th on a couple hills but other than that it chugged up then in 6th.
Had the cruse set at 68 mph

Putting it in D and going is fine. Tow/Haul will take it from there. I used to worry as well with my last diesel, but that is what it is built for and with the diesel backing up the tranny your truck won't be gear hunting when you hit an icline.
