I guess the big question is how high are you trying to get?

Full 6 inch lift from www.roughcountry.com is 900

Front end level with lift spindles is about 270 from ebay

3 inch body lift from Performance Accessories is about 350

I would say go with the spindle lift that Weed suggested since you have a V6 idk how it would hold up to going too high with all the extra weight.

that v6 is going to have problems pushing the tires you would want to put on a 6in lift. I would just do the lift spindles!

unless the v6 had twin turbos

yep, stay modest with the lift an don't go with too large of a tire or you'll bog that 3.7L V6 down big time. The problem when you bog down the engine is that the transmission shifts CONSTANTLY trying to find a suitable gear which will then cause the tranny to say bye-bye prematurely.

You may find with even a modest lift and slightly over-sized tires that you'd need to replace the ring and pinion in the rear axle to a numerically higher gear set to take the strain off the engine/transmission...

As hammer will chime in on. Be careful about how high you go with a leveling kit. Don't go over 2" or you risk possible CV failure in the future

i was looking at the rough country 3" suspension seeing as i would like to upgrade from the stock shocks and coil springs. Now would this be a good kit to use? I dont do any off roading or beat on the truck i just want it for looks.

Then yes that'll do for what you want. I wouldn't go past that with a V6. Plus the 33s will still look acceptable on 3 inches of lift. Not great but acceptable

Default Would like to lift my 03 Ram

Hi everyone,
I am currently in Afghanistan and was thinking I would like to lift my 2003 Ram 4 door 4.7L truck when I get home. I know absolutely nothing about the products or the process though. First of all is this something I should attempt on my own or have a shop do? Next I was thinking of a 2-3" lift, with that what exactly would I need to purchase (shocks, some type of lift kit, bigger tires) is that it. What is a "general" ball park figure to do something like this? I live in NW Montana and would take my truck off road a little and drive in lots and lots of snow. Forgive all the questions this is my first go at something like this. Any help or advice would be greatly appriciated. Also will this put extra strain on the engine/tranny/4 wheel drive system? Sorry if this post is in the wrong spot as it looks like a reply to the gentelmen at the tops question, I could not figure out how to ask my own, some help on that would be great also. Thanks in advance.

Zach
