Default Oldschool dual snorkel good as vararam?

What do you guys think about hooking up an oldschool dual snorkel intake and running tubes to the bumper like vararam?

What would you use in place of the resonator box? This idea has potential...

I'm saying ditch the airbox like most CAIs. Vararam for the Ram is similar to the older dual snorkel air intakes and runs tubes to the bumper for colder air.

Maybe I should ask it this way...

How will you connect both snorkel tubes to the throttle body?

That's what I'm curious about... Did you already find something to replace the resonator box at the throttle body that would house the filter? I haven't seen any except for what comes with the Veraram. If you have found something, please share that info with us!

If you can rout the piping it should work, but thats not a very easy task in itself. With the vararam its routed like crap since there is really no straight shots.

Snorkel tubes hook to the air cleaner (filter inside). The challenge is hooking the air cleaner to the throttle body. I found a low profile snorkel airbox from spectre that might work. I'm going to try to connect it to the throttle body with a 90 degree pvc elbow.

Truckin - Do you know what the CFM numbers are for vararam? Also, are the tubes 3" or 4"?

I dont have any CFM numbers, but the unit is definitly a highflow unit.

http://www.vararam.com/hemi.html

Towards the bottom they have a air flow test.

As for the tubes, I believe they are 5"-6". Here is the leftover tubing I had compaired to a 4" inside diameter piece of pvc pipe.

Cool, thanks for the info. I didn't realize the tubes were that big. I was wondering about the tubes because I bought this spectre kit from advance auto with a discount code for $109:
http://www.spectreperformance.com/#CATALOG.728

It has 4" tubes. It will be interesting to mount up, but I've done some rough measurements while holding the air cleaner over the engine and I think it's going to work. I found a huge grommet that will make the air cleaner have a 4" opening at the bottom, so I can use a 4" elbow with a 4" to 3" reducer to the throttle body.

Going to mount on the bumper like vararam and will most likely use dryer duct style scoops like this

I'm hoping it will be the poor man's vararam!
