Default Questions about camming

I've been having quite the itch to do a camshaft swap. Doing a bit of research I've been eying the sidewinder. I've got a superchips now but it definitely looks worth the price of admission to go custom tuned afterwards.

Anyone have a recommended best way of custom tuning for the cam? Options seem to be piggybacking with a psc1-003, going with a DSP instead, or going custom tuned with an SCT. I really don't wanna go back to a sloshy-shift transmission and wanna hear from experiences so I know which direction to go.

Additionally - this would be my first cam swap and I'd be too nervous to take it on alone as its my DD. What sucks even more is that Rochester NY sucks when it comes to any sort of shops that will do this work.

If any of you real experienced guys would be willing to help (if you live nearby, or I am willing to fly you/get you on a train here if the costs are reasonable enough), I would be more than happy to compensate you. Maybe take a weekend and end up with like $700 in your pocket and help me swap cams like pro :]

You can get a custom tune for the cam if you want it, but the sidewinder should run on the SC alone, a comp260 would be anothr to look at if you want the lowend tq but want to keep the SC to tune. If you do decide to do a custom tune, being that you have an 05' the dsp would be perfect for you, part throttle up/down shifts, custom tuning ability for both the PCM AND TCM (which will do some pretty sweet things). Your choice, but if you want to keep the SC the sidewinder should be fine, if you go with a custom tune though, you could go bigger with a 210 or 210x.

Bumping this for more opinions/advice. I definitely want to go custom tuned - is the DSP going to be the best choice for this? From what I've read the sidewinder gets some real good power gains - if I am going custom tuned is there much better for good low-mid power gains? I like a nice big power boost throughout the whole range if possible but obviously with the truck I am focusing towards low end. I've got 3.55's on right now so regearing could be an option in the future. I would like to make a decision I'm happy with the first time so I'm not wasting money though :]
