Default Fender flares

Skimmed through all 10 pages of search results, and didn't see exactly what I'm looking for.

I am looking for the type of flares that are pretty much just a thin, black rubber or plastic piece that is attached from inside the wheel well and hangs out over the tire. I don't know exactly how to explain them, but I think I have seen them mainly on pre-runner type trucks. Anyone know what they are called or where to find them? They will just be for a temp install, so I'm not looking for anything permanent, difficult to install, or even aesthetically pleasing, for that matter.

So are they flat horizontally like on Jeeps, or thin against the body of the truck?

Flat, horizontally. May have a bit of a lip the comes up against the outside of the fender that in "proper installation" might be bolted or taped to the fender.

Basically, my plan is to double-sided tape it to the inside of the wheel well right before I que in line, then peel it back off after it gets through inspection. He said it's only over by "half an inch, at most, but he can't let it go because of German law". It's pretty common practice to rig stuff up just enough to pass inspection, then return it to the way it was, afterwards. Therefore, I don't really want to drop a bunch of money on flares.

Man that sucks. I want flares, but I hear you on the price. ~$500 for a good set of Bushwhackers, and they don't even actually bolt-on, just have the bolted "look" to them.

Here you go. Look for the Pacers.

THANKS! I think that's what I need. The "standard duty" should do the trick. A bit more than I wanted to spend, but I guess I'll have them for the annual dog-and-pony show to make them happy. Just have to make sure that they will ship and get here in time. Thanks, again!

I'm actually kind of just the opposite. I love the lines and subtle curves of the truck as designed. I don't really want flares or steps. My power steps fold away and you don't see them. I'd be kind of bummed if I had to put flares on it. My other plan was the get a set of 17" stockers somewhere and mount the Goodyear's that came on my wife's Jeep and put them on for the inspection. It would look pretty goofy, but it would serve the purpose...

I don't think you're going to find cheaper than ~$80 for a set of four that are designed for the truck. That's dirt cheap, unless you head to the hardware store and rig something up.

I'm going for the pre-runner look, and the wider tires will throw crap up onto my paint if I don't get flares.

^^^ I want to go with a pre runner look as well. And then eventually a pretty functional prerunner but that'll be over time lol

Right on. Thanks again, Brandon. I ordered a set from them. They were $79 with free shipping. However, unfortunately, since I'm overseas at an APO address, they had to go Priority and tagged an extra twenty bones on the price tag. So, just shy of $100.00, but, if they do the trick then it is money well spent.

I wish I had installed flares when I went with wide tires. They throw crap all down the side of the truck and it's not doing any good for the paint. If my truck wasn't white it would look worse.

I won't pay for a name brand; there are good flares on ebay for under $200. I can rattle-can pretty convincingly and white is easy to match.

The citizens of Dimmsdale wish you luck!

HAHAHAHA! Awesome. That made my day.

As for the need for flares, I don't really see much more tossed up on the truck than before (though, granted, I didn't really take it off-road at all with the stock 20's). It has splash guards, so I think they take the brunt of the load. The tires are 33x12.5 and barely stick out at all. Just enough to give me a headache here, I guess. I am contemplating going to 35x12.5. Thought it's the same width, I have a sneaking suspicion that I'm going to have more of a wheel well issue with them than the 33's. Guess we'll see if I actually do it.

*EDIT* Did you paint your grille bezel/surround? That looks sharp!
