interchange 3rd Gen with 4th Gen

I've never tried one myself, so please tell me, are the 4th gen tailgates feather-light like Fords are? Or, are they heavy and weigh a ton like the 3rd gen Ram? First time I closed the tailgate on the '05 F-150 work truck at my old job, I got yelled at because I slammed it so hard. I was used to having to muscle my own tailgate on my truck.
I know that my dads 09 is a lot lighter than my 04. We where told by the dealer when he bought his, that the 09 and up tailgates are somewhat spring loaded to lighten the load. What ever it is, it worked.

Almost anything will fit, you just have to fab it up. There's a guy around my town who has a 2001 Z71 and he's put well over 200 hours working on that truck, swapping the front end for newer parts, doing his own suspension, installing a sunroof etc.

The 4pc carpet mats do fit.
My company has some 2011 Quad cabs and the 4pc carpet mats seem to fit just fine in my 2005 Quad.
I may take a chance on the heavy duty rubber mats (2009-2011) unless someone has already tried them.
I'll test the tailgate next week. I'm just curious at this point.
