So I've been thinking about trading
If it were me, I would not purchase that truck. First thing you'd have to do is lift it if you wanted to do ANYTHING at all off-road. It looks low as hell, not even taking the body kit into consideration, which you would also have to remove. Then taking into account that it's older and has more miles...I'd definitely pass.
I use my phone for navigation when I'm lost lol. But yea I'm just gonna deal with what I have for now since it's better than nothing. After I graduate then I'll start looking into getting my dream truck
What gear ratio do you have for those 34" tires? Do you have a programmer? Something you could give some serious consideration is using the performance tune from a programmer and going with 4.56 gearing along with a TruTrac LSD. Most of your off-roading adventures here in FL could be tackled without too much difficulty. Your around-town driving will be more spirited, towing would be a breeze, and mileage won't be hurt. You would be spending around $1,000 to get all of this done, and be able to keep your newer and higher value truck that you've worked so hard to build.
If you make the switch and don't really need 4wd, then it will end up costing you more than it's worth in the long run, in my humble opinion...

that price is ridiculous, if I had to spend that kind of money on a ram it wouldn't be a early front-end 3rd gen, it would be a 06 cummins 2500. I just bought a similar ram last week (2004 silver hemi ram 4x4 long bed quad cab 17in wheels - new tires new brakes new ball-joints) for 6300 with 135k miles, great condition drives perfect clean record. I couldn't justify spending over 10 grand more for less miles, rather just fix things as they break.
also good choice on a wj cherokee, I'm looking at 04s myself, just get the 4.0L straight six, great engines that last forever (they made about 5 million of them). don't mess with the 4.7 v8 even though the torque is nice, working on them sucks. on the forums everyone's problems usually are with the 4.7. I have 210k on my 97 4.0 and 180k on my 95, never one problem. fyi the blend door problems are usually with the 4.7 setup.

IMO the 4.7 (especially the HO version I have now) is worth the little extra in care it needs to perform and have the 545rfe than the 4.0 is with the 42re. Plus the extra 100 ponies and better fuel economy at the same time is nice. 102k miles on my '02 Overland and I've never had a hint of power-train issues. However the common sh*t that all WJs experience have just started to hit me. I've done the blend doors and window regulators already, just had a rear caliper totally lock up and take out the pads and rotor and now the el-cheapo plastic radiator with aluminum innards just decided to split a seam. Fun, fun...
