1500 towing capacity
I'm trying to decide between a 1500 and 2500. I trailer my jeep to the rocks about 5 or 6 times a year, sometimes driving 10 hours one way. I'm wondering if a 1500 would be up for the task with the hemi. I'm guessing I'd be towing around 8 or 9k loaded with trailer and gear.
Realistically, that's a job for a CTD, but if you gotta go gasser, you'd want the heavier duty truck. Half tons have really gone more for ride quality and less for towing/hauling in their design over the past ten years or so...

I found my 07' Dodge Ram 1500 with Hemi and 3.92's to be quite good trailering a 3 motorcycle enclosed trailer. Had a 00' Silverado 2500 with 6.0 and 4.10 gears prior.
BUT what you're looking to tow.....stick with a 2500 like Hammer said. CTD is ideal

You'll definitely want the diesel. Hope you have other justification for the increased cost and maintenance.
