Default e-fan options

2003 5.7 rcsb auto. the clutch fan pisses me off. I want to get rid of it. My dakota had a stock electric fan behind the clutch fan, so I just took off the clutch fan and the temp never went past 190. Have a feeling I wont get that lucky with this one. Is there a kit or something that I can do relatively easy? I cant fabricate anything or do much with wiring. Any help would be appreciated.

A lot of guys opt for the pick 'n pull Taurus fans.

I have the Flex-a-Lite 180 Extreme kit myself. Six years now and the temp has NEVER even gotten near the half-way line, even towing over 7000 lbs. in 94* heat...

I have the 183 waiting to be installed for mine. It costs about $30 more (on average) than the 180, but shouldn't require ANY fabricating.

You keep the stock shroud with the 180 and 183 correct? Just wanted to make sure since the overflow and washer fluid bottles attach to the shroud.

I did, some don't. The 180 fits perfectly within the stock shroud. I mounted it by putting self tapping screws thru the side of the shroud into the fan housing. Also unless I'm mistaken, I don't think the 180 is made anymore - I believe the 183 first came out as a Ram direct fit and has now replaced it in the lineup.

I've seen some killer applications in Rams at truck shows omitting the stock shroud and using color anodized aluminum bottles for the overflow and washer that were really nice. I had pics but lost them when my old laptop's hard drive took a sh*t...

So you put screws through the stock shroud into the flex a lite housing to mount it? Just wanted to be sure.

Ditching the stock shroud and bottles would be cool but since my Vararam intake sits on the stock bottles I need to keep them. Oh well.

Just a heads up. I read through the installation instructions for the Flex a lite 183. It is a direct bolt on for the 03-08. The stock shroud is NOT retained however bracketry is included to mount the stock overflow and washer fluid bottles in the stock locations.

I just picked up a Flex a lite 183 and a Jet 180 stat from Amazon for $284 shipped. Id say thats a deal.

i just read the installation instructions for the flexalite 183 kit.... 4 pages of detailed instructions. why does it have to be so hard? And yes, you do have to relocate the overflow and washer fluid bottles.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FL...n/?prefilter=1

summit still has the 180. its a universal kit. the installation doesnt look as hard either. I might end up getting this one as long as I know it'll fit.
