i need help
I have loved dodges my whole life, but recently my dodge has been giving me some trouble, the transmition is going down the drain, its late on shifting and takes a while to catch. The transmition fluid is full, I just don't know what to do, and I'm getting about 6 mph, no lift or offroad tiers. Its running me broke, but I don't want to get rid of it. Can someone help me with what I should do, that is relatively cheap.
you're in the wrong section. But I can tell you if you're referring to the truck you have listed, the 46 RE has a tendancy to not last that long. However, if you're lucky, you can pull the transmission pan off and there are two "bands" that you can adjust. You do this when you change the transmission filter. If you get a haynes or chilton manual it will tell you how to change the trans fluid and how to adjust those bands. This can fix it if it's not shifting right. I did this on my old dakota and it worked.
as far as getting 6 mpg, if your trans is acting weird that will affect it. Also, the 5.2/5.9 have an intake manifold that has a pan with a gasket on the bottom of it. This is known as the belly pan gasket or plenum gasket. These things have a tendancy to leak or get blown out and cause poor performance. Look down into your throttle body (or take it off) and if you see a pool of oil down there you have a blown plenum gasket. other then that, just try changing plugs/wires... etc.
