Default Extended warranty

Hi guys, I have been on here for a long time but over on the second gen side. Since all but a couple guys in the secondgen forum (those with the magnum 2002s) have trucks that meet this criteria, I figured this place would be the best to post some info.

I bought my truck in 2008 (2001 1500) and it had the chrysler extended warranty option. Good thing because i had a T-case and power steering pump replaced. THat warranty ran out in march of 2011. So i got this Route 66 Warranty from my federal credit union (Penfed). I looked at the brochure and it seemed pretty good, almost too good to be true because of the price (I paid 1295 for 5 years and up to 100K miles, it had 52K).

I got the "easy street" package because i had less than 65K on the odo:
1. Covers everything the factory covers (minus wiring, sound, and wear parts like tires, brakes and shocks, etc) ZERO DEDUCTIBLE
2. 24/7 roadside assistance (Towing, ump start, fluid delivery)
3. If your battery goes dead, they will pay up to 65 bucks for a jump OR on the price of getting a new battery (Used that copay to get my an optima).

Well, I have had 2 claims so far and they were both approved:
1. About 7 months ago I had a new Auburn differential put in my truck. The backlash was off and there were parts that needed to be replaced. Ended up being cheaper to replace the whole unit than the specific part. I also had a dead battery so they paid 65 bucks on the optima I got.
---Bill was about 1200. I paid 238 (105 of which was because I splurged because of the optima). All I had to pay was diagnosis time.
2. 10 days ago my left front U-joint on my axle broke when in 4x4 on icy roads in the snow. THe axle was toast as well. They had an inspector come in and look at the damage and he approved the claim. They replaced the Hub, axle, and U-joint. The shop said that they are not charging for diagnostic time because it was pretty obvious. I paid 74 bucks out of pocket on a 1175 dollar repair bill.

If you qualify for easy street, you can also get a rental car (up to 50 bucks a day not to go over 250 dollars). I refrained since I am a graduate school student.

Here is the brochure: THey have 2 coverages based on mileage:
1. Easy street:
a. 0-65000 miles and less than or equal 10 model years: 5 year coverage up to 100K miles.
b. 6500-100,000 miles and less than or equal: 3 years of coverage/36K miles
2. Main Street:
10 model years or newer and 100,001-125,000 miles: 3 years coverage.

I have been very happy with it, but there have been some complaints about this company. Most notably were the complaints like:
1. "I noticed the car was leaking coolant and running hot. I kept driving and it overheated and seized the engine." Duh. Not many warranties cover negligence.
2. "I was waiting for 3 hours for a tow truck." Can't really blame the company. Especially when the guy didn't need a tow but ran out of gas. The guys who were supposed to come with gas were having credit card issues and never called rte 66 to tell them.

Just thought I would share this if you all have a truck that qualifies. I am not a salesman for their company, but sometimes people want real life feedback from a warranty company.

I believe you can only get that special pricing if you are a member of a credit union. But it would not hurt to call them.
