Default Ever Shipped A Vehicle? DAS is NOT the way to go.

My truck sat for 23 days until it was finally put on a truck and sent my way. Support has given me the same line since my first call, "I'll email the dispatcher" which has done nothing helpful. It is going on 25 days since I paid them and, as of now, it is going to arrive 10 days later than their first ETA (Jan.21. This ETA has changed 6+ times bouncing all over the place). They moved it from its original drop-off location to some other lot where it sat for another week or so.

Needless to say, I'm a bit disgruntled. I paid them on January 5th and I still don't have my truck. I should have gone with one of the many auto shippers I inquired through before going with DAS. The other auto shippers were all roughly $200-$400 dollars cheaper and had much better timeframes. I thought I'd go through DAS instead because they are a carrier and as such, my truck would not sit and be pushed aside... No such luck.

For those who are considering shipping a vehicle, keep these things in mind.

1. You want the company to be fully bonded and insured in case your vehicle is damaged during shipment.
2. You want to be able to track where your vehicle is at all times.
3. Make sure the broker or carrier guarantees your vehicle will be shipped for the price quoted. Some snakes will quote you one price, and then later say it can't be done and ask for more.
4. Be sure to check the policies of the auto shipper. Some promise certain delivery times but have stipulations in their policies that give them more than a month with your vehicle sitting parked before they will even visit the idea of refunding any part of your money. Avoid these turds at all costs.
5. You want the lowest price possible by a reputable broker or carrier as long as the above are true. Don't listen when they say you should pay more to "assure your vehicle gets assigned". I did pay more for just that reason and it did me no good whatsoever (and I even went with a carrier!).
6. Depending on the company, deposits may be required. This covers the broker's fee and then you pay the driver upon arrival. Even with the brokerage fee, you still save money over DAS by the tune of hundreds in many cases.

Hope this helps someone in the future and, if anyone has some input for me regarding my current situation that would be greatly appreciated.

Now my only hope is that it arrives damage-free. We'll see. I'll be sure to keep you posted for those who are interested.

Wow, that's crazy. Sorry to hear that. I shipped mine from Baltimore to Bremerhaven, Germany with TransGlobal and had no issues, whatsoever, thankfully. Probably would have been cheaper for you to just fly-and-drive. You'd have it in your driveway by now! Good luck, and I hope it arrives soon undamaged. Keep us posted.

That's the truth!

It still has not arrived... Apparently, the carrier broke down...

Well it took 27 days but I finally got my truck. It is 11 days late but at least it arrived without any damage. I'll be going with someone else next time that is for sure!

I sold my Mustang to guy in Arkansas. He paid $900 to be shipped from NY to Ar and needed a low mounted trailer because my mustang was 2" off the ground.
The truck came to my house to pick up the car, and dropped it off at his house 9 days later.
I had a programmer which I set the rev limiter at 2500rpms and top speed at 20mph. I also pulled the fuse out for my BAP(boost-a-pump) so any gas that would be needed to flow the supercharger would be cut off and would cause the car to fall flat on it's face.
He reported no problems. I am unsure of the company name, but I'll look for the receipt as I know it's around here somewhere. Been 3.5yrs now.
