Default 03 Superchips vs Diablo

I know there is alot of threads about programmers and what not but i have an 03 5.7, i know its the first year they started putting hemi's in. I know theres not a whole lot of stuff that can be changed since its the first year but between diablo and superchips which programmer would i get the best gains out of?

I've found in the case of the '04, the Superchips blows away the Diablo (have tested both extensively). Diablo simply didn't put the time/effort into the older 3rd Gens as they did the newer ones where SC did.

You are right in that the '03 isn't nearly as tunable as the '04+ Rams, but you'll get more benefit from a SC than a Diablo for your year...

I used superchips for about a year on my 03 hemi and it was great. I'm planning on some upgrades and eventually want a custom tune, so I tried out a diablo. Now my truck is pretty much F'd. It won't run right at all. More info on my experience here:

I would recommend the superchips You'll notice the power upgrade and the transmission will shift firmer.

Sucks but not everyone has the same experience with the tuners. IMO Diablo blows the crap out of superchips. Tried them both and dsp gave me more power and better mpgs. Then add a custom tune and damn.

I talked to a diablo guy on the phone today. He said they've had issues when other tunes were used previously (not specifically superchips or this model truck). Apparently some tuners do not write the original tune when going back to stock, but instead writing their version of a stock tune.

It's hard to say what actually happened but I'm going to get a dealer flash and try it again. I wouldn't let this experience keep you from using a programmer at all. I think you are fine to go with one or the other.

If I had an 03 I would get a SC3815. If I had an 04+ (which I do) with a small cam (which I dont), I would have SC3865. If I had an 04+ with a big cam I would have Diablo.

Very true, just depends on what you want and how.big you want to go. Although if it was the custom tune route, I'd take a look at the sct as well with the older 3rd gens
