Depends... which engine and what are your stock gears?
It also depends on what your definition of performance is. I have the Hemi, about 60 or so HP over stock in mods, had the better (3.92) of the stock gears and wasn't at all happy with the low end after the lift and 35" tires...
And I'm not one of those people who wants his truck to be fast, I just want it to be loud and look awesome. The most performance I'll probably do is a CAI, and this summer I'm probably going to get some 35" trail grapplers without the gears at first and see how that works out.
Oh, I'm not fast by any means, my truck weighs in at a hefty 7000 lbs. I needed the extra low end grunt because of the weight of the big tires, winch, etc.
My bad though, when I read the title and your initial post, I took it to mean you wanted MODS...
I am interested in mods, but I just aint a big fan of spending $1000+ on something that's not completly necessary, it may be though if I were to go with bigger tires wich I eventually will.
I do want mods, I just don't know if $1000 gears are really needed, but I'll defiantly keep it in mind and do some research on it. By the way, what size tires are on your truck?
I'm surprised at your restraint, Hammer. I figured you would have told him the best place to "cruise" with his underpowered, yet aesthetically pleasing vehicle by now. :P
Seriously, though, since you are in DFW, and it's relatively flat, you might be alright without gears if you go up to 35" tires. Your transmission and gas mileage will thank you, though, if you do. Since you don't want to do gears, my recommendation would be an E-fan.
