how to get my 2wd 1500 to look like a 4x4 2500
Seen a 2003 2500 4x4 sitting on stock 17's camping this weekend. Really liked the look of it. Any idea what I would need to do to achieve that height and look for my 2wd 1500?
Well to begin with, a 4x4 sits higher stock than a 4x2 AND a 2500 sits higher than a 1500, so he's got a considerable height advantage to start with.
Sounds to me like you want an agressive stance, so I'd start with a level kit up front and maybe even do a body lift on top of it (we are only talking maybe $100 for the level kit and under $400 for the body lift - so if you can do the installs it's cheap).
Now you'll need some aggressive meats and most importantly the proper offset wheels to throw them out a tad, getting them out from under the tire wells gives a very aggressive look to a truck IMO.
The truck on the left (next to mine) is an '02 4x2 I have had my hand in much of the work on (probably why it looks a good bit like mine, LOL). It's got 5 inches of lift (which is what the level/body lift combo gives you) and I believe 285/70/17 tires.

Ill be updating the suspension in mine in the near future. So I'm in the planning phase. Plus I've gotta replace the lower ball joints etc. So I want to do it all in one swoop.
Unfortunately I'm on my phone, and can't upload the pic if the truck.
But I definitely want functional suspension, I.e. I tow various things.

Well my 2500 is pretty level and I think about 3" higher than a stock 4x4 1500. I have stock 265x70r17. I did not want bigger tires because I primarily use it for towing Although a 285x70r17 gives a better off-road look.
